SKAKAVAC WATERFALL

“Skakavac” is one of the largest and most beautiful waterfalls in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with an impressive height of 98 meters. The interesting origin of the waterfall’s name comes from the water droplets at the bottom of the waterfall that look they are jumping around, just like grasshoppers. And in Bosnian, “skavavac” means waterfall. Skakavac National Park is located extraordinarily close to the city, being only 12 km away from the city center, making it easy to reach.

This amazing tour is for those who love and can handle an easy 3 - 4 hour walk that takes you through a primal, untouched forest. For a nice rest, you can relax in a nice picnic area and enjoy in a light lunch.
The view at waterfall is a reward by itself and real tourist attraction! In hot summer days it is the perfect place to visit to escape the summer heat.

We highly recommend you wear hiking shoes and taking drinking water and snacks with you.

Our guide, Samir, was extremely kind and humours. The hike was incredibly enjoyable with an jaw-dropping view hiking up to the waterfall. Sarajevo was immersed in fog, so although we did not get an aerial view of the city, we felt on top of the world being above the fog. It was absolutely magical and we would definitely recommend this trek, no matter the season.
